The Gold Rush Crash

Is it true, has it happened? The bottom line has crashed out of the Gold market?

Well yes it's true, the Gold price suffered one of its largest one day falls on record and platinum was not far behind. 

But rumors are floating around, as you would expect – will it rise soon or continue to crash further. Now as many of my readers know, gold and indeed platinum are synonymous with the jewellery trade however the industry has no influence on the price. This is all about the woes of the worlds current economic climate in Finance and our hands are tied to their dealings and not ours.  

Even with these rather large falls please don't expect to see prices drop on the high street, Jewellery stores holding stock would have already bought the ranges along with price tags to match, meaning there will be a large time period before you start to see any significant falls.

But, it’s not all doom and gloom, where there is bad there is also good. And the good is seeking out someone like me, a bespoke jeweller who will still be able to offer innovative ideas for your engagement and wedding rings but also working with prices that suit, all because a bespoke jeweller works for the present and not for stacked stock

Does skin tone matter?

Have you ever noticed when you walk past most local jewellery stores that everything is white. Where have all the colours gone?

There will always be a vast range of gemstone colours to match the rainbow, but I’m actually talking about the precious metal, there all white.

Earlier today a client came into see me to create their own unique design.  99% of the time they will ask for it to be made in platinum or white gold, even the guys follow the same trend when choosing their wedding rings. Most often discounting all of the other possibilities and that’s usually due to research from our ever friendly internet.

Clearly that cannot be right?

When choosing an outfit you will often try it on and even though you like the style if the colour goes against your natural skin tone, you tend to leave it and try something else on.

Gold Rise Spurs Jewelers to Switch Metals, Add Gems

Bloomberg’s Mark Barton reports from London and interviews Knightsbridge based bespoke jeweller David Law where the increase in gold prices has prompted jewelers to use other metals and add gems to keep prices down.
