It’s still Factor 50 time

The sun is shining, the air is clear and people are happy, if your away on holiday you may be thinking, its hotter in the UK than where I am now. It’s been a very long time since we have been able to say that and it puts that long awaited spring in your step and people smile more.

While you surround yourself with spring flowers that look and smell divine, maybe this is the time to pop out and buy yourself  a new spring/summer outfit, plan BBQ’s with friends and family or you could use this shining sunny weather to indulge in a stunning aquamarine gemstone ring, pendant or earrings for that sunny event you have planned.

From the light blue of the sky to the deep blue of the sea, aquamarines shine over an extraordinarily beautiful range of

Have you been left an heirloom

If you have were fortunate enough to have been given a gift from a loved one that may well have passed and it simply oozes with history and sentimental value. Your holding in your hands a piece of “your” history. But it may well be damaged, missing a diamond or just does not suit you, as a person.  However you know it carries great worth due to the person leaving it to you, so what do you do?

In this day of technology and creativity, help is always on hand.
Just last week I had the pleasure of meeting a lady who presented a Emerald cut diamond wedding ring that she had been left and although the ring was very old and broken  she wanted to have it re-made so that she could wear it on her wedding day, you have to admit that’s extremely touching and filled with love.

She went to her local jeweller but they quoted her an exorbitant amount, partly because they did not fancy doing the job and

Something Old, Something New

Spring is in the air and so are the showers, the buds and the blossom on the trees.

After what seemed a very long winter, we set about the famous spring clean of our homes and if you are anything like me you will be amazed at what you will find in the draws and cupboards, things that you had completely forgotten about and more likely never used.

This year my array of finds have included, old remote control boxes for appliances that I no longer have, out of date beer bottles, and clothes that are no longer worn, gold tie pins, cufflinks and broken chains. Now all packed and ready for the Charity shops, and the remotes and the beer cans to the local dump. But the gold, well that’s a different matter unlike all your other finds they still have a value.

Do you dare to be different

When you say jewellery you think of the obvious, the engagement ring, wedding ring eternity ring, and the list goes on.

But in truth there is so much more that a jeweller can offer, the issue here is how limited high street jewellers are and how they tend to stick  to the “norm”, selling what is considered to be their bread and butter. This ultimately means the consumers choice is restricted and very limited.

Well all that has changed with one of the most exciting developments to come out of designing jewellery. 3D computer aided technology allows you to take chances without any risk, see your innovation and lose nothing, be inspired by design without the fear of high prices.

Spring is bursting with Colour

I really do love spring, it that time of year where we can  brush away the winter blues, the buds start to push through and start to blossom, surrounding us with blue bells, daffodils and tulips such beautiful fresh colours. Longer days and sunshine puts that extra bounce in our steps, a wider smile on our faces and the air is full of positivity.

The other great thing about this time of year is winter clothes can finally be locked up and replaced by beautiful  prints and fresh spring colours. From a jewellery design prospective this allows us to be far more creative with the coloured gems that we can use in our designs.

As I have mentioned in previous blogs I have a real passion for beautiful vibrant coloured gems  and the spring season really allows us to offer you an array of choice to really finish off the outfit, I thought it would be quiet cool to give you some insights to the possibilities that are available and take a look as lesser know stones.

So this week I wanted to give you an insight into Golden Beryl.

Golden beryl is also known as Heliodor, which is named after the Greek words for sun "Helios" and gift "Doron". The sunny yellowcolour of this beryl lives up to its name.  Although it isn't well known, Golden beryl has an illustrious pedigree.

Like people, gems come in closely related

Does skin tone matter?

March 19, 2012 @ 4:33 pm

Have you ever noticed when you walk past most local jewellery stores that everything is white. Where have all the colours gone?

There will always be a vast range of gemstone colours to match the rainbow, but I’m actually talking about the precious metal, there all white.

Earlier today a client came into see me to create their own unique design.  99% of the time they will ask for it to be made in platinum or white gold, even the guys follow the same trend when choosing their wedding rings. Most often discounting all of the other possibilities and that’s usually due to research from our ever friendly internet.

Clearly that cannot be right?

When choosing an outfit you will often try it on and even though you like the style if the colour goes against your natural skin tone, you tend to leave it and try something else on.

Did you know that when your looking for a piece of jewellery the

Retailers say “Consumers are shopping for unique pieces”

June 13, 2011 @ 4:06 pm
posted David Law

Jewellery retailers have reported that over the last month, consumers are more conscious when shopping for bespoke pieces and more unique items.

David Law comments “This is something I have been talking about a lot over the past couple of years, but retailers may well have missed the point. It is not caution that is turning consumers to bespoke jewellery, allow me to explain why.

High street and online stores lose the mystic and beauty of that unique piece because the art of being able to speak to an expert, share ideas and innovations as been lost, the passion and desire for that ultimate design and the right price is key. High Street stores have the pressure of commodity on price and price alone,

David Law continues “The exciting world of 3D, bespoke jewellery has become affordable for everyone whatever the budget allowing the shopper to create their own unique piece in a relaxed environment, taking time to make this moment special. It’s all about personal service something that has disappeared in the retail market but certainly not with me.”

Come say hello and let’s see how we can explode your ideas into reality
