David created his two-ring Wax Ring Proposal for anyone who wants to keep their proposal a complete surprise while designing a unique engagement ring inspired by their love story—one made for their partner alone and never repeated.
It lets you start creating something deeply personal without choosing every detail of the final engagement ring yourself.
Before proposing, you collaborate with David to develop the initial ring design and choose your ideal diamond or coloured gemstone. Your chosen stone is set into a temporary engagement ring and presented alongside a wearable wax prototype of your proposed design.
The Wax Ring Proposal Begins with a Conversation
You begin with a private conversation with David about your partner, their style, the story you share and what you hope to create. You do not need to arrive with a finished idea.
David will introduce you to the possibilities through realistic 3D visuals and wax models from past commissions. Together, you will discuss diamonds and coloured gemstones that could enhance the design while remaining within the investment you have in mind.
From Your Story to a Choice of Designs
Following your conversation, David develops a selection of original ring concepts inspired by what you have shared about your partner, their style and your relationship.
Each concept is presented through realistic 3D visuals, allowing you to explore different settings, proportions, and details without relying on imagination alone.
You can compare the possibilities, combine elements from different concepts and refine the direction that feels most personal. The design doesn't need to be permanently fixed at this stage; it is the beginning of a ring you and your partner can perfect together after the proposal.

How long does it take to prepare the two proposal rings?
The Wax Ring Proposal typically takes two weeks to prepare. As the proposal date approaches, it may sometimes be possible to complete the two rings in as little as seven days.
What if I do not know my partner’s ring size?
You don't need to know the exact final ring size before you start. David will discuss the best way to estimate the temporary ring size, and you can confirm your partner's correct finger size after the proposal, before we handcraft the final ring.
How do I choose the diamond or coloured gemstone?
David will handpick a small selection of natural or lab-grown diamonds or coloured gemstones, tailored to your design and budget. You can compare the options with his expert, impartial guidance before choosing the stone for your proposal.
Can I use a family heirloom diamond or gemstone?
Yes, subject to an appraisal. David will examine the stone to assess its condition and suitability before incorporating it into the Wax Ring Proposal and the final engagement ring.
How much does the Wax Ring Proposal cost?
There is no additional charge for choosing the Wax Ring Proposal. The design stage begins with a £250 deposit, credited toward the finished engagement ring.
Once you’ve selected the design and gemstone, the total deposit increases to 50% of the agreed price, with the remaining balance due when the commission is complete. There is no additional design charge when you return together to perfect the final ring.
Can my partner change the design after the proposal?
Yes. The wax design gives you a personal starting point, but it doesn't commit your partner to every detail. Your partner can try it on, explore alternative ideas, and refine or completely rethink the design with you before the final ring is made.
How long does the final engagement ring take to complete?
Once you return together and approve the final design, we usually complete the engagement ring within about two weeks. A full redesign or a particularly intricate ring may take longer, and David will confirm the timeline before handcrafting begins.
Do I need to travel to London to create the rings with David?
No. You can meet David privately at his Marylebone studio, begin the process remotely by Zoom, or arrange a personal appointment through his travelling jeweller service across Greater London and the Home Counties.
Design concepts, gemstone options and wearable wax models can all be shared with you throughout the process, allowing you to create your Wax Ring Proposal with the same personal guidance wherever you are.
